Student Engagement Coordinator

PURPOSE

Reporting to the Director of Student Engagement. The Student Engagement Coordinator has the responsibility of planning and implementing activities and events that support students' leadership engagement, as well as personal/professional and organizational development. The incumbent will support and oversee the registration of student organizations and execute evening and weekend programming. Maintain relationships with external community service agencies and groups, and work with other Student Affairs' units to communicate serviceĀ­ learning opportunities to students. Contributes to the drafting and writing of protocols, procedures, training manuals and handbooks that ensure that student and university-recognized organizations and advisors are aware of the university and office rules, regulations, and policies.

Maintains a clearinghouse of information about student activities and events on campus (i.e., student organization directory) and provides accurate information concerning activities/events dates, times and locations that may be presented in a variety of formats (i.e., fliers, social media, University website, News, etc.). Devises and plans evening and weekend programming that may tie into divisional programming, Athletics and activities hosted in the Scruggs University Centre, including the Bowling Alley.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Develop and coordinate student activity programming that best promotes student engagement, coordinate Lincoln University traditional events with campus constituencies.
  • Provides oversight and planning for Student Life's wellness and social issues educational programming covering alcohol and drug use, sex education and misconduct prevention, healthy relationships and community, diversity, and health and wellness.
  • Maintain and manage the Student Life programming calendar for a variety of print publications and input in the University website and social media.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of the Student Leadership Program.
  • Develop and coordinate student activity programming during summer and winter terms.
  • Provide oversight of departmental sound and video equipment and programming supplies.
  • Assist with the planning, organizing, and supervising of student activities during New Student Orientation.
  • Oversight of student clubs and organizations.
  • Serve as a resource for campus constituencies (residence life, student clubs and organizations, enrollment services, and academic programs) in developing, planning, and implementing activities programming.
  • Manage and coordinate a dedicated and engaged team of student activities planners.
  • Adhering to school and university and state and federal policies and procedures as well as professional ethical standards in their carrying out of these activities
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience providing related student services.
  • A record of successful mentorship of students.
  • Strong customer service skills and attention to details is a must.
  • Demonstrated experience with student organizations and event planning.
  • Creative and innovative problem solver and developer.
  • Experience with the coordination and implementation of campus collaboration.
  • Effective written, oral communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member to achieve common goals, and to exercise sound judgement.
  • Knowledge and understanding of higher education.
