PURPOSE

The Director of Assessment is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of assessment activities for the purposes of improving student learning outcomes, teaching and learning experience, institutional effectiveness, and meeting standards for compliance. Working closely with faculty, staff, and campus leaders, this incumbent aids in the development and execution of assessment strategies that evaluate student learning outcomes of our innovative curricular and co-curricular programs and generate useful and actionable assessment results. The Director uses these assessment results to make strategic recommendations to the Provost/Vice President, concerning the overall development of the university, with a particular focus on the undergraduate and graduate academic programs. He/she also works with other units to provide expertise and guidance in analyzing and interpreting educational policies and regulations that are relevant to joint venture universities and assist in data collection and reporting efforts for accreditation and reviews.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


  • The Director of Assessment will work closely with the office of Provost/Vice President, in ensuring compliance with the accreditation requirements of the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), and professional accreditation requirements established by specialized professional associations in the U.S., if applicable.
  • He/she will collaborate with the campus partners on assessment initiatives and prepare required reports.
  • He/she will assist with facilitating scheduled curriculum reviews as necessary and work with faculty, academic committees, and the Provost/Vice President to recommend realignment or revision to the curriculum as needed.
  • He/she will serve ad-hoc on the University Assessment Committee. They will work directly with the committee co­-chairs to oversee the committee's involvement in evaluating Lincoln University's assessment plans and in providing guidance for their further development and implementation.
  • He/she will work closely with Department Heads, Deans, and Provost/ Vice President in attaining approvals for new academic programs from accrediting agencies in the US.
  • He/she will develop and maintain ongoing relationships with faculty to promote a culture of assessment and work closely with the Department Heads and Deans to provide guidance and support to faculty on conducting assessments, interpreting evidence, and applying assessment results to improve student learning.
  • He/she will provide consultations and professional development programs to support staff on their assessment efforts, with the purpose of improving co-curricular programs.
  • He/she will oversee and manage the course evaluation system and help faculty interpret and use student feedback.
  • He/she will provide oversight and guidance for campus-wide surveys and ensure coordination among various units in collecting student and faculty feedback for program improvement.
  • He/she will collaborate with the university assessment committee to plan and develop a system to streamline the collection, storage, and management of assessment data.
  • He/she will manage staff with diverse skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • The successful applicant will have an advanced degree, a Ph.D. or Ed.Dis preferred, and 10 or more years of experience in academic administration in higher education institutions or the equivalent.
  • An institution builder and a strategic thinker who understands the challenges in building and assessing new degree programs, and consistently and systematically looks for ways to improve the quality of the programs and students' overall learning outcomes.
  • Knowledge about academic program assessment and co-curricular assessment.especially those associated with US higher education institutions.
  • A strong team player who understands the value of collaboration and partnership in an academic setting.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills are important.
  • Working experience and expertise in accreditation requirements is preferred.

  1. Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  2. Have a strong capacity to utilize administrative computer systems and personal computer applications and possess specific skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  3. Have the ability to design, develop and deploy assessment instruments and be able to interpret and analyze the data collected.
  4. Ability to manage staff with diverse skills is required
  5. Must be able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, develop communication strategies and work with internal and external stakeholders
  6. Must understand the many facets of marketing a dynamic university.
  7. Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

  9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  10. Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment.
