PURPOSE:
The Scruggs University Center Manager is a vital position within the Office of Student Engagement at Lincoln University of Missouri. Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean of Student Engagement, the Manager provides strategic oversight and operational leadership of the Scruggs University Center, ensuring that it remains a vibrant and inclusive hub for student life. This role includes managing the center's daily operations, facility scheduling, event coordination, maintenance needs, and student staff development.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide daily oversight of all operations within the Scruggs University Center, including student lounges, meeting spaces, recreational areas, and the campus bowling center.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage all activities necessary to ensure the effective use of the facility for student, faculty, staff, and community engagement.
  • Oversee event set-up and breakdown for all events held in the Scruggs University Center, ensuring that event spaces are arranged according to specifications and university standards.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and customer service throughout the building.
  • Supervise and assign responsibilities to student workers, including scheduling and training.
  • Monitor and coordinate all routine and preventative maintenance needs, including scheduling technical support.
  • Oversee daily operations of the campus bowling center including maintenance of lane setter machines, scoring systems, and ball return equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with the rules and regulations of the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) and other applicable governing bodies.
  • Analyze usage trends and develop marketing strategies in collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Student Engagement to increase engagement and revenue through leagues, open play, and special events.
  • Maintain compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Address student and customer suggestions, concerns, and complaints professionally and promptly.
  • Serve as a liaison with campus and external partners to coordinate events and foster community engagement.
  • Serve as a member of university-wide committees and emergency response teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean of Student Engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of Adobe Suite and proficient in using Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, develop communication strategies and work with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to perform duties with high accuracy.
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential University information.
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule that includes evening and weekend activities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Light sedentary office work.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
