Research Technician

Position Summary:

The Lincoln University Farms Department is searching for a full-time Research Technician I to support agricultural research

related to plants, animals and aquaculture. This position requires a highly motivated individual to work in a multitude of

environments including but not limited to the University farms, greenhouses, aquaculture facility, laboratory, field, and office.

This position will involve interacting and working with researchers, students, farm staff and the community.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

Communicate with and assist the Farm Superintendent, Farm Managers, Assistant Farm Managers, Researchers, University Extension personnel, Technicians, casual employees, and student workers regarding research projects and the day-to day farm operations.

• Assist with University farm field plot preparation and management.
• Assist with livestock and aquaculture research and demonstration projects.
• Work in the greenhouses to perform the day-to-day operations of research projects.
• Assist with the maintenance of the field plots, greenhouses, and aquaculture facility. Assist with tabulation and recording of data related to the active farm research projects in an office or laboratory setting. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must be able to use Microsoft Word. Excel, PowerPoint and other programs as necessary.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

The ability to multi-task and keep organized records is required.

Interpersonal skills appropriate to operate within a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students

The ability to operate farm equipment is strongly preferred.

The ability to work outside in inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time is required.

Experience working with livestock and plant production is strongly preferred. Must be able to work weekends and extended hours if necessary.
