Part-Time Dispatcher

Purpose:

This position performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled functions in support of the Dispatch Center; receives and dispatches emergency and non-emergency calls from the public for police, fire, and ambulance personnel, equipment and services; provides lead direction and participates in the work of a dispatcher; and performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions:

• Provide emergency and non-emergency radio communication.
• Observe for signs of crime or disorder as seen on cameras.
• Take accurate notes of unusual occurrences.
• Record and monitor Office activities with each call coming into the department.
• Communicate with students, faculty, staff, and community in need of assistance.
• Ability to do multiple tasks at the same time.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform over-the-phone first aid or CPR.
• Maintain a professional, courteous, and polite demeanor.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by Lincoln University Police Department and Command Staff.
• Be familiar with and carry out emergency evaluation procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics:

• Able to pass state background check. Required
• Strong working knowledge of security operations, and safety practices. Preferred
• Excellent surveillance and observation skills. Preferred
• Excellent communication skills. Desired
• High school diploma/GED or Equivalent.

Physical Demands:

• 8-12-hour shifts.
• Sedentary work conditions.
