Nursing Simulation Instructor

Position Summary

The Nursing Simulation Instructor collaborates with the faculty in creating an active learning environment. This position working closely with faculty in the preparation and creation of learning materials to meet course objectives and goals.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Assist Deans and Dept. Heads with inventory and ordering of necessary materials.
  • Prepare simulators prior to instruction to ensure proper functioning of computers, appropriate scenarios and props, moulage of mannequins, and proper set up of computers for virtual feed.
  • Set up and operate simulation equipment and assist with orientation of equipment use for students and faculty members.
  • Track and document student and faculty use of labs and update the student practice check-in log.
  • Serve as a role model by utilizing effective communication and team concepts.
  • Lead tours and demonstrate simulation equipment to prospective students and visitors.
  • Actively participate in the budget planning process by submitting recommendations for equipment and software and assist with grant writing and fund raising.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of simulation technology and proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize projects, work in a team environment, and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and occasional weekends.
  • Foster and maintain professional affiliations and positive working relationships with all university departments.
  • Remain up-to-date regarding new simulation technology.

Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in Nursing is required.
  • Current Missouri RN license in good standing.
  • Two years of clinical nursing experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to actively demonstrate and participate in the skills laboratory and clinical classes without physical limitations.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work in classrooms and clinical sites at various locations.
