Mental Health Coordinator

Position Summary

The Mental Health Coordinator provides direct mental health counseling services to individual students, couples, and groups regarding a wide range of personal concerns. These services require intake assessment, case management, and crisis intervention, and may require on-call and after-hours consultation, as needed.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health counseling services to students as individuals or groups.
  • Provide crisis intervention management for students experiencing mental health crisis.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate effective educational programs and outreach activities that promote student health and wellness and the prevention, recognition, and treatment of psychological and behavior problems.
  • Participate in Partners in Prevention activities and other grant funded opportunities.
  • Coordinate care with mental health providers external to Lincoln University for student benefit.
  • Engage in professional development activities and various Lincoln University events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge and abilities to function as a skilled licensed professional mental health counselor is require.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Attentive to details and listens well.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data.
  • Ability to analyze data and solve problems.
  • Self-starting and able to work consistently without direct supervision.

Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in counseling, counseling psychology, or psychology is required.
  • At least one year of work experience, full-time and/or approved internship, conducting clinical interviews, making diagnostic assessments, and formulating treatment or referral plans for individuals with a broad spectrum of psychological problems is required.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a mental health provider in the state of Missouri is required.
  • Willingness and ability to participate in on-call and after-hours work schedules.

Physical Requirements

  • Light sedentary office work.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
