Manager of Infrastructure Services

Position Summary

The Manager of Infrastructure Services provides leadership and vision in financial issues, operating procedures and programs, and technical planning for Information Technology Services; manages a staff of professional and technical personnel; and works closely with other Information Technology Services resources and other University departments to develop and monitor achievement of standards for university technology, service level agreements, and support procedures.

This position manages the operational activities of multiple information technology and/or telecommunications systems and services in alignment with business objectives of Lincoln University and participates in activities required to plan, design, coordinate, implement, and support cost-effective technology-based systems and services.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

• Plans, implements, and coordinates administrative functions relating to IT practices and procedures, personnel policies, and special projects.
• Manages activities of employees, vendors, and service providers to provide service stability, availability, and completion of customer requests.
• Ensures efficient and effective responses to process failures and service interruptions, develops methods to revive failures and interruptions.
• Establishes major schedules, task assignments, and allocation of workforce and equipment.
• Works closely with the Chief Information Officer to manage programs, such as Grants and Project Funds.
• Interacts with peers, customers, and organizational leaders to understand and represent the needs and requirements of each.

• Ability to develop departmental plans, including business, production, and organizational priorities.
• Ability to learn new systems and solutions quickly with little to no formal training.
• Ability to understand systems and procedures used by other teams and departments across the university.
• Ability to clearly communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated expert in managing multiple projects; demonstrated success in planning, implementing, and maintaining systems in a complex environment.
• High level initiative, independence, and maturity in all aspects of work.
• Uses creative and critical thinking techniques to identify and implement new ways to improve and manage products, services, and service delivery.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field from an accredited institution is required.
• Master's degree is preferred - Doctorate degree is a plus.
• Four years' related experience is required.
• Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
• Two years' experience in networking, data storage, data backup and recovery systems, server infrastructure, and enterprise internet connections is required.

Physical Requirements

• Light sedentary office work.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
