Lab Technician I

Purpose:

The position will work in laboratories on samples preparation and data acquisition using a variety of analytical instruments such as the ICP-OES, Microwave digester, etc.

Essential Job Functions:

• Update chemical and supply inventory
• Cleaning and maintaining lab equipment, including recalibration of equipment.
• Maintaining equipment records and daily work logs.
• Staying current on technical and scientific advances in their field.
• Supervise student workers and casual employees and train them on how to use research equipment and instruments.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics

1. Competency with MS-Excel spreadsheet and Word processing.
2. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
3. Good organizational and time management skills.
4. Ability to work independently and in a team.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

Physical Demands:

• Light sedentary office work
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
