Health Education Program Manager

Position Summary

This position is with the Paula J. Carter Center on Minority Health and Aging (PJCCMHA) and will be responsible for managing and shaping programs that generate health education for Missouri senior citizens, targeting older adults with limited resources, that are of ethnic minorities, and live in marginalized rural and urban communities.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

• Provide health education to increase health literacy among seniors
• Strategic planning and identifying and securing funding
• Develop strategies to disseminate information, services, and resources through outreach programs
• Serve as liaison with funding organizations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of health education programs
• Time management and organizational skills
• Exceptional oral and written communications skills
• Ability to travel in and around the United States
• Preferred: the ability to read, speak, and understand Spanish

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in health education, health promotion, community health, public health, social work, nursing, or related field is required
• Master's degree in one of the above fields is preferred
• Three or more years of experience working with low-income, ethnically diverse individuals from marginalized communities in informal group settings
• Experience working with issues of concern to minority people over age 50
• Minimum of two years of experience working as a program manager
• Preferred: experience with distance learning and developing audiences with social media

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods
• Occasionally lift, carry, put away parcels
• Regular physical strength, including mobility, and agility
