Head Women's Basketball Coach

Purpose:

Head Women's Basketball Coach develops, manages, implements, and advances competitive intercollegiate women's basketball program within the philosophy, objectives, policies, and guidelines of NCAA Division II, the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), and Department of Athletics at Lincoln University. The Head Women's Basketball Coach reports to the Director of Athletics. Will be responsible for the administration of all Women's Basketball activities ensuring the University maintains compliance with all federal, state, and institutional guidelines and policies.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Teach and instruct advanced skills, techniques, and game strategies inherent in the highest level of competitive play. Oversee practices and game planning/conditioning of student athletes and Game Day activities.
  • Collaborate with administration to promote fiscal responsibility crafting and monitoring budget, including team/staff travel, equipment, fundraising, recruiting, foundation account, and scholarship expenditures.
  • Coordinate camps/clinics to increase local and regional exposure of LU and LU Women's basketball program.
  • Supervise 1 full-time Assistant Coach and possible graduate/student assistants.
  • Accountable for compliance with all NCAA Division II and Great Lakes Valley Conference rules; including submission of all compliance forms, adherence to all compliance policies and procedures, and attendance of mandatory NCAA rules education sessions.
  • Ensure atmosphere of compliance, student-athlete wellbeing, academic progress, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and championship culture.
  • Conduct internal/external engagement, i.e. phone, email, mailing, zoom with various constituent groups including, but not limited to faculty, staff, students, university personnel, donors, alumni, and fans.
  • Attend GLVC, LU, and Department of Athletics meetings as scheduled, and complete required NCAA and LU trainings.
  • Collaborate with athletics training staff, academic support personnel, strength and conditioning, compliance staff, and other campus personnel to enhance and support LU women's basketball student athlete experience.
  • Travel required as it relates to the position's responsibilities.
  • Other responsibilities/duties as assigned by the VP of Athletics.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Candidates must have a minimum of 4 coaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • A tenure of successful collegiate experience with recruiting talented and academically qualified student-athletes.
  • Experience in practice and game plan development, academic monitoring, and development of student-athletes, fundraising, public relations, and building a strong team culture.
  • Collegiate coaching experience preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, domestic traveling and standing on field.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
