Head Men's Soccer Coach

Position Summary

The Head Men's Soccer Coach serves as the chief administrator for the Lincoln University men's soccer program. They are also responsible for the administration of all soccer activities ensuring the University maintains compliance with all federal, state, and institutional guidelines and policies.


Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Oversees practice/training sessions, mental/skill development of student-athletes/match day activities.
  • Collaborates with administration to promote fiscal responsibility crafting and monitoring budget including team/staff travel, equipment, recruiting, foundation account, and scholarship expenditures.
  • Coordinates scheduling and summer camps.
  • Collaborates with administration, fundraise to augment program budget.
  • Maintains minimum roster of forty-two players.
  • Ensures atmosphere of compliance, student-athlete wellbeing, academic progress towards graduation, diversity, equity & inclusion, and championship culture.
  • Conducts internal/external engagement, i.e., phone, email, mailing, zoom with various constituent groups including, but not limited to faculty, staff, students, university personnel, donors, alumni, and fans.
  • Collaborates extensively with other departments on campus including but not limited to Student Affairs, Provost/Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, Advancement, and Student Success.
  • Travels as required due to position's responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the VP of Athletics.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) and GLVC regulations.
  • Ability to author reports and business correspondence (i.e., Recruiting letters).
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of media, administrators, faculty, staff, students, public groups and/or Board of Curators.
  • Requires the ability to use small office equipment, including copy machines and telephone systems.
  • Requires the ability to use computers for data entry, word processing and/or accounting purposes.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education or related field from accredited institution required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Five years' experience with soccer skills and instruction.
  • One year of coaching experience with Division I or II preferred.
  • One year of experience in recruiting highly motivated and qualified student-athletes required.
  • Current certification in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillator (AED) use is preferred at the time of hire and will be required prior to participation in any countable athletically related activities as defined by the NCAA.

Physical Requirements

  • Light sedentary office work.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Ability to swing, bend, crouch, and kneel.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
