GIS Tech I

Position Summary

The GIS Tech I will manage the GIS lab and conduct GIS related research activities.

Essential Function, Duties, and Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Geospatial Information Science (GIS) laboratory.
• Provide technical assistance to Agricultural and Environmental Science research projects.
• Collect and process small-unmanned aerial system imagery.
• Assist with GIS minor laboratory exercise course work.
• Manage supply inventory.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Federal Aviation Administration's Remote Pilot certificate.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as a team player.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are needed.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Geography, or a related field is required.
• Understanding of geospatial information science is preferred.
• Familiarity with Geospatial Information Science device and software is required.
• Experience with computer networking, software installation and update, and troubleshooting is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Light sedentary office work.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Driving ability.
