Position Summary
The GIS Tech I will manage the GIS lab and conduct GIS related research activities.
Essential Function, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Geospatial Information Science (GIS) laboratory.
- Provide technical assistance to Agricultural and Environmental Science research projects.
- Collect and process small-unmanned aerial system imagery.
- Assist with GIS minor laboratory exercise course work.
- Manage supply inventory.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Federal Aviation Administration's Remote Pilot certificate.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as a team player.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are needed.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Geography, or a related field is required.
- Understanding of geospatial information science is preferred.
- Familiarity with Geospatial Information Science device and software is required.
- Experience with computer networking, software installation and update, and troubleshooting is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Light sedentary office work.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Driving ability.
