Fiscal Affairs Specialist

Purpose:

Provides financial management, monitoring and expertise to all revenues, expenses, and donations in the Office of Institutional Advancement. Works closely with the VP of Advancement to further the fundraising of the University.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Oversees recording of all donations and revenues that are received in the Office of Institutional Advancement. Works closely with staff and donors to make sure that the funds are being used to the donor's discretion.
  2. Maintains the Raisers and Financial Edge databases for the Office of Institutional Advancement.
  3. Prepares financial statements for the Office of Institutional Advancement, monthly and annually in cooperation with the Financial Office to be included in the annual reporting.
  4. Participates in the yearly audit of the University on behalf of the Office of Institutional Advancement.
  5. Prepares weekly/monthly/and quarterly statements for the VP of Advancement, Athletics, and Campus Recreation, donors, and internal account holders regarding their funds.
  6. Maintains the accounts payable process for OIA.
  7. Participates in planning for long range and annual fundraising plans.
  8. Oversees all scholarship aspects for the Office of Institutional Advancement, as well as some for the University.
  9. Prepares Requisitions and maintains the P-card for the Office of Institutional Advancement.
  10. Monitors the Advancement, Communications, and the Alumni Affairs budgets.
  11. Mentors and assists student workers and graduate assistants.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business with an emphasis in accounting or equivalent is required.

At least 2 years' experience in accounting/non-profit accounting work is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of Blackbaud Raisers Edge and Financial Edge (both Database and NXT).
  • Knowledge of Colleague.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience in Accounting and financial report preparation.
  • Good customer service and donor skills.

Physical Demands:

  • Light sedentary office work.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
