Farm Outreach Worker - Southwest Region
Position Summary
The Farm Outreach Worker will assist the Innovative Small Farmers' Outreach Program (ISFOP), make farm visits, and promote assistance to the small family farmers in the Southwest region of Missouri.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Develop and disseminate farm and farming-related information.
- Organize and coordinate conferences, meetings, workshops, and events.
- Write scientific articles, guide sheets, and fact sheets.
- Prepare posters and PowerPoint presentations.
- Write grant proposals in collaboration with the ISFOP Director.
- Provide total support to the ISFOP Director.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience working with diverse audiences.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Ability to work well on teams.
- Ability to write grant proposals.
- Ability to speak and understand Spanish.
Education and Experience
- B.S. degree in Agriculture or a closely related field is required.
- Three years of farming experience is required.
- Interest and experience in urban agriculture/community gardening is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Light sedentary office work.
- Prolonged periods of standing or working in adverse weather.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
