Facilities Coordinator

Purpose:

This position manages the 1890 Research and Extension facilities to ensure an optimal working environment in our buildings. This position is responsible for performing regular building safety and security inspections, maintaining our building's equipment and supervising cleaning crews. This is a 12-month, non-tenure track, fully benefit-eligible position.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and manage buildings and equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Respond to urgent maintenance calls.
  • Create building evacuation plans/action plans to prepare for emergencies.
  • Test building security systems and promote safety within the building.
  • Manage equipment and supply needs including furniture, telecommunications, kitchen, office, general supplies, and climate control.
  • Liaison with vendors and suppliers on behalf of the University Executive team.
  • Create and provide regular reports to University Facilities Manager.
  • Supervise cleaning and maintenance workers.
  • Document all processes and keep maintenance records.
  • Manage maintenance budget.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and university reporting requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of facility coordination, project management, or real estate experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in building and equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with 1890 employees, architects, contractors, engineers, and University employees.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain building maintenance records.
  • Thorough knowledge of building safety regulations and security protocols.
  • Proficiency with a computer and office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
  • Certificates in Electrical, HVAC, and/or plumbing are preferred.

Travel Requirements:

  • Statewide travel to satellite locations will be required.
  • Overnight in-state travel may be required on occasion.

Physical Demands:

  • Lifting or carrying objects up to 50 lbs.
