Extension Associate in Agribusiness

Position Summary

This is a full-time position that aims to support the Agricultural Economics and marketing Program at Lincoln University Cooperative Extension. Agribusiness management, business planning, financial skills and knowledge are required for this position to help small farms and ranches to strength their business and community capacity to increase farm profitability.


Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

Program Development. Delivery and Evaluation

1. Working with supervisor to plan and evaluate program activities and impact.

2. Explore farmers' needs by using the Community Capacity Agribusiness Assessment form implemented with the beginning farmer and rancher program at the AEMP.

3. Help with program leadership, outreach, collect data, interpret, and integrate information.

4. Developing and compiling data, helping in preparing reports and disseminating outputs.

s. Teach designated expertise, sustain competencies to develop and deliver educational programming, and assist clients with the appropriate resource bases.

6. Work closely with supervisor to assist the beginning farmer and rancher development program (BFRDP) in developing and implementing agribusiness plans.

7. Helping to secure extramural funds through grants, donations, and other methods.

8. Helping in developing teaching materials to include guide sheets, fact sheets and extension articles, assisting all the sub-programs at the AEMP.

9. Assisting stakeholders request of educational training in crops and livestock production systems and markets

10. Facilitating the AEMP field days and workshops sessions. Helping in the outreach of disadvantaged farmers and ranchers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


1. Knowledge and experience in program planning, promotion, and resource development.

2. Agribusiness, business administration, and agriculture entrepreneurship.

3. Financial and marketing strategies

4. Business planning

5. Ability to organize, manage, and conduct educational activities for adult audiences.

6. Fluent Bilingual skills (Preferred -English and Spanish)


Education and Experience

1. At least one year of experience working directly with small business owners.

2. Informal and/or formal teaching experiences.

3. Experience with delivering agriculture extension programing.

4. Data management skills and knowledge on Microsoft office and business software


College degree and postgraduate

Master's degree


Physical Requirements

1. Ability to drive long distance is required (3 to 6 hours driving trips)

2. Ability to lift to at least 25 lbs.

3. Light sedentary office work.

4. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
