Director of University Relations

Position Summary

The Director of University Relations will lead all internal and external signature events, public relations, and partnership opportunities, and is responsible for all facets of communications strategies to effectively reach the University's target audience and the community-at-large.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Articulates, reinforces, and promotes the mission and vision of Lincoln University.
  • Creates, reviews, and revises the communications plan to develop and update the University's branding guidelines to identify opportunities for enhancement.
  • Manages communications and collaborates with marketing team members to produce quality publications, printed materials, broadcast projects, digital communications, communications campaigns, and marketing strategies.
  • Plans and spearheads events to strengthen public relations.
  • Serves as the University's spokesperson.
  • Oversees and manages the annual communication and fiscal resources.
  • Writes speeches or provides talking points for the President or other University Directors to facilitate comprehensive and consistent communication.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to research, develop, and evaluate communications and marketing plans.
  • Ability to adhere to the University's budgetary requirements to ensure marketing plans are in alignment with the University's overall strategies and objectives.
  • Proficiency with web development products and related software.
  • Ability to lead team members with timely and effective implementation projects through collaboration and open communication.
  • Ability to be diplomatic and utilize discretion when communicating with diverse audiences and public.
  • Ability to work with team members, students, and volunteers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively via written correspondence and accurately proofread and edit materials as required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of job-related experience in media, public relations, or a related field is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Light sedentary office work.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to travel domestically for events.
  • Ability to navigate to and around all areas of the university campus and other educational campuses for events.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
