Director of Golf

Position Summary

The Director of Golf serves as the chief administrator for both the Lincoln University Men's and Women's Golf programs and is responsible for all golf activities ensuring the university maintains compliance with all federal, state, and institutional guidelines and policies.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Oversees practice and training sessions, mental and skill development of student-athletes, and match day activities.
  • Collaborates with administration to promote fiscal responsibility, craft and monitor budget - including team and staff travel, equipment, recruitment, foundation accounts, and scholarship expenditures.
  • Coordinates scheduling and summer camps.
  • Collaborates with administration to fundraise.
  • Serves as instructor for two classes each semester in School of Education and Wellness.
  • Maintains minimum roster of ten golfers on the men's side, and eight golfers on the women's side.
  • Ensures atmosphere of compliance, student-athlete well-being, academic progress towards graduations, diversity, equity and inclusion, and championship culture.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and NCAA and MIAA regulations.
  • Ability to author reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions form groups of media, administrators, faculty, staff, students, public groups, and Board of Curators.
  • Ability to use office equipment and computer for data entry and word processing.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, or related field is required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Five years' experience with golf skills and instruction.
  • One year of coaching experience with Division I or II is preferred.
  • One year experience in recruiting highly motivated and qualified student-athletes is required.
  • Current first aid/CPR/AED training will be required prior to participation in any countable athletically related activities, defined by NCAA.

Physical Requirements

  • Light sedentary office work.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Ability to swing, bend, crouch, and kneel.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
