Conduct Coordinator
Purpose
The Conduct Coordinator is a full-time professional staff member reporting to the Assistant Dean of Judicial, Title IX and Compliance. The Coordinator serves as a student conduct administrator and/or investigator in cases of allegations of violations of the Code of Student Conduct for individual students and student organizations and works closely with the Assistant Dean to coordinate all aspects of the Code of Conduct Office. The Coordinator also manages and ensures the integrity of the caseloads within The Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities.
Essential Job Functions
- Serve as a campus administrator for the Maxient Conduct Manager software and update/maintain confidential student conduct files in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines.
- Provide advice, educational resources, and ongoing training to faculty and staff related to student behavior and the Code of Student Conduct.
- Provide educational workshops to students related to the Code of Student Conduct, conflict resolution, and civility.
- Assist in the development and updating of departmental policies, procedures, publications, website, and other resources.
- Assist in conducting research and benchmarking studies to determine current best practices in the field of student conduct.
- Assist in developing assessment criteria to determine the effectiveness of our student conduct program and implement formal assessment procedures based on these criteria.
- Prepare monthly/semester/annual reports regarding Student Rights & Responsibilities activities. Assist in the selection, training, and scheduling for community standards board members as needed.
- Work closely with staff in developing, implementing, and interpreting the requirements of college policies, and state and federal legislation impacting the college (e.g., FERPA, Title IX, Clery, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), etc.).
- Collaborate with the Assistant Dean and other staff to maintain the Code of Conduct & Student Life areas; schedule and supervise events and handle potential disciplinary issues which arise.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative work environment with faculty, staff, students, and other campus constituents.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
- Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills; the ability to think strategically to determine the most effective use of resources.
- Knowledge of government regulations that pertain to students including FERPA, Title IX, Clery, VAWA.
- Knowledge of basic computer programs, Microsoft Office, and conduct software (e.g., Maxient, Simplicity, PAVE, etc.).
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the concerns and needs of a diverse student population.
- Ability to work with confidential files and information.
- Conflict resolution skills.
- Must have a track record demonstrating dedication to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail; ability to engage in various tasks simultaneously, and consistently meet deadlines.
- Be team-oriented
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, communications, or related area preferred. Minimum one (1) to three (3) years prior experience with coordinating and managing projects or events involving large numbers of people; demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with investigating, interviewing, and resolving college student conduct cases preferred; experience in student development, student conduct and higher education preferred.
