Computer Science Lecturer
Purpose:
Lecturer faculty position in Computer Science. Position is for one-year with the possibility of an additional year renewal based upon departmental needs.
Essential Job Functions:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in computer science, computer information systems, and related fields.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in research, including partnering to seek external funding.
- Contribute to new initiatives and programs within the department, especially to grow our offerings with respect to artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computer science.
Qualifications:
- Expertise in artificial intelligence/machine learning required, specifically including the ability to effectively integrate AI/ML methods into application domains.
- Ability to teach across the curriculum, including courses in one or more of: ethics and technology, operating systems, database systems, data analytics, automata theory, and data structures/algorithm analysis.
- Ability to teach a diverse student body.
- Ability to engage in research and incorporate undergraduate students.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics:
- PhD. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Engineering, or related area is preferred.
- Doctoral students and doctoral candidates are acceptable.
- Master's degree with appropriate professional certification/licensure is minimally acceptable.
- Prior experience in engaging diverse undergraduate students is preferred.
- Prior industry experience or postdoctoral experience is preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
