Job Description


Position Summary


Acquaints, engages, and prepares students for the world of work while emphasizing and offering opportunities to develop career readiness skills.


Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities


  • Collaborates with the other programs on campus and engage students within orientation, FYE courses, , to teach prospective and new students how to access career-related programs and services.
  • Develops and presents outreach programs and workshops to students in classroom settings, residence halls, etc.
  • Counsels undecided (re: career direction) and undeclared (re: major) students individually and in groups. Administer assessment instruments and computerized career guidance systems as needed.
  • Helps supervise and support Career Peer Mentors through training, task supervision, and day-to-day operations of the Career Studio.
  • Creates a yearly calendar of activities, events, and special programs that support the goals of the Office of Career Services and the University.
  • Coordinates projects, including career fairs, teacher placement days, on-campus interviews, etc.
  • Collects, reviews and shares data pertaining to students participating in career programming and event opportunities.
  • Maintains and updates electronic and paper (handouts, brochures, social media, etc.) resources relating to Career Services as
  • Promotes the university and career services through participation in professional organizations.
  • Contributes to the overall success of career services by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Excellent counseling, communication (oral and written), and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable working with technology-based services.
  • Ability to work independently while functioning as a member of our team.
  • Strong abilities in time management, event organization, and managing multiple projects and details.
  • Make sound decisions and take appropriate actions when needed.
  • Ability to work in a data-intensive environment.


Education and Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in higher education, business administration, journalism, or related field from an accredited institution required.
  • One year of experience with Microsoft Office 365 required.
  • Two years' related experience preferred.

Physical Requirements


  • Light sedentary office work.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
