Associate Director of Cooperative Research

Purpose:

Serve as the Cooperative Research Associate Director in direct reporting to the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Environmental and Human Sciences. This position will increase and support the scholarly activities of faculty and students, developing strategic partnerships with other institutions of higher learning, government, and industry while promoting compliance and research integrity. This is a full time, fully benefit eligible position.

Essential Job Functions:

  • In close collaboration with the Dean through administrative leadership and supervisory relationships, support the training, development and work effort of faculty and students including farm and collaborator locations.
  • In close collaboration with Grant Accounting Office and Budget Office, ensure that Cooperative Research follows sound budget and fiscal practices.
  • Promote and expand the research mission of LUCR by increasing and supporting the scholarly activities of faculty, students, and partners/collaborators.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to faculty through collaborations, the development of professional enhancement programs, and assistance in seeking and obtaining extramural funding.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to ensure compliance with Lincoln University regulations and policies, state, and federal laws including Civil Rights, IACUC, and others.
  • Provide data and prepare reports to ensure compliance with all university, state, and federal requirements and external groups and stakeholders.
  • Carry out any other administrative responsibilities as delegated by the Dean.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the Board of Curators Report as required.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a field related to cooperative research services, preferably agriculture, from an accredited university is required.
  • Minimum of five years of experience as an administrator required, experience leading a research unit preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics:

  • Understanding and commitment to the strong partnership between local, state, and federal governments and the university.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders across genders, cultures, races, and educational levels.
  • Strong achievement in the areas of publication, research management, and obtaining grants and extramural funding as the principal investigator.
  • Experience providing administrative leadership and establishing supervisory relationships to develop and implement effectiveness within an organization.
  • Understanding, appreciation and commitment to the three functions of a land-grant university: Academic, Research, and Extension.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to attend meetings and other work-related events and activities. Travel to include state, regional, and national conferences and workshops when appropriate.

Physical Demands:

  • Light sedentary office work.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
