Assistant Professor of English

PURPOSE:
Assistant Professor of English.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Excellent organizational and management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders as well as excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Training in composition pedagogy.
• Demonstrated commitment to promoting equitable literacy practices and creating inclusive, accessible learning environments for diverse populations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics

• Specialization in English. Particularly in the fields of later British Literature, Technical Writing, English Education or Postcolonial/Decolonial Studies.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

• A record of scholarship and publication or evidence of a productive research agenda.
• Previous experience with or preparation for teaching courses in professional writing and rhetoric and composition.
• Ph.D. in English required at time of appointment.
• Evidence of experience working with underprepared and diverse student population.
• Established record of publication as well as experience and excellence in teaching a variety of courses in specialty.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Light sedentary office work.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Prolonged periods of standing/walking.
