Assistant Professor of Education

Position Summary

The Assistant Professor of Education is a full-time, tenure-track position in the School of Education. This position requires teaching and advising undergraduate and graduate students, scholarship in the field of education, and service to the University.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Preparation and teaching at least a 12-hour load per semester of assigned courses.
  • Advising and registering undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Record and maintain the necessary data for assessment and accreditation purposes.
  • Holding office hours.
  • Assist students in preparation for state required EPP entrance exam or certification exam.
  • Scholarship/research/publication/grants within the field.
  • Serves on committees at the school, college, and university levels.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of MO teaching standards and use of best practices in teaching courses required.
  • Knowledge of educational theories and practices in the areas of psychology and development.
  • Knowledge of and aligning National and State standards to courses and assignments.
  • Knowledge of technology use in the classroom for in-seat, hybrid, and online instruction.
  • Ability to implement DEI initiatives in and outside of the classroom.

Education and Experience

  • Doctorate degree or ABD in a field of Education or Teacher Education is required.
  • Missouri teaching certificate, or the ability to obtain teacher certification is required.
  • Experience with diverse communities, students, faculty, and staff is required.
  • Three years of full-time teaching at the K-12 level is preferred.
  • Certification in teaching Social Studies at the K-12 level is preferred.
  • Experience with education program accreditation at the state or national level is preferred.
