Assistant Professor of Crop Physiology

Position Summary

Lincoln University of Missouri is seeking highly motivated, creative, individuals to apply for an Assistant Professor position of Crop Physiology. This position will develop a high-impact, nationally recognized research and extension program that addresses the critical and emergent issues in crop production.

This is a 12-month, non-tenure track, full benefit-eligible faculty position responsible for approximately 80% research and 20% extension.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Develop a multi-disciplinary research and extension program, with an emphasis on climate-smart, sustainable production and practices.
  • Conduct innovative laboratory and field research and outreach activities.
  • Write grant proposals for extramural, competitive funding to support crop research and extension programs.
  • Disseminate and publish research findings to stakeholders and in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Collaborate with faculty, research farm employees, extension educators, producers, and industry partners.
  • Contribute to relevant professional societies.
  • May be required to teach courses relevant to expertise, supervise graduate students, provide department, college, and university service.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct quality research and extension activities, publish research articles, and secure funding through grant proposal.
  • Expertise and experience in applied crop physiology, crop, modeling, and abiotic stress tolerance.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity in precision and organic farming and sustainable agriculture practices.
  • Willingness and ability to work in a team-oriented environment with diverse group of faculties.

Education and Experience

  • Ph.D. in crop science, agronomy, plant physiology, or closely related field is required.
  • Experience of postdoctoral research and teaching is preferred.
  • A background in experimental design, data management, and statistical analysis is highly desirable.
