Assistant Professor in Natural Resource Management

PURPOSE:

Lincoln University of Missouri is seeking highly motivated, creative, individuals to apply for the Assistant Professor position of Natural Resource Management with emphasis on land management, water, soils, plants, wildlife, conservation and restoration. This is a full time, non-tenure track, full benefit-eligible faculty position with 100% research responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop a high-impact, nationally recognized natural resource management research program to address the critical or emergent issues in relevance to land management, water, soils, plants, wildlife, conservation and restoration
  • Conduct innovative laboratory and field research.
  • Write grant proposals for extramural, competitive funding to support the natural resource management research program.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Collaborate with faculty within the university and at other institutions.
  • Contribute to relevant professional societies.
  • May be required to teach courses relevant to their expertise, supervise undergraduate and graduate students, and provide department, college, and university service.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean or Associate Research Director.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct quality research, publish research articles in peer-reviewed journals, and secure extramural funding through grant proposals.
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in land management, water, soils, plants, wildlife, conservation and restoration are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to work in a team-oriented environment with a diverse group of faculties.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Ph.D. in agriculture, natural resources, ecology, environmental science, or a closely related field is required.
  • Experience of postdoctoral research and teaching is preferred.
  • Background in experimental design, data management, and statistical analysis is highly desirable.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions as needed to conduct relevant field work.
  • Ability to correctly lift up to 25 lbs.
  • The position may require occasional travel.
