Assistant Director of the Academic Success Center
Position Summary
This position will be a student-facing member of the center and will work directly with students, faculty, and staff to coordinate student support efforts that improve student retention and graduation rates.
The Assistant Director will engage students in a variety of activities to ensure progression towards graduation leading to a career or continuing educational goals. They will work in collaboration with faculty, various academic support service professionals and students at the university. They will be responsible for facilitating programming on academic probation, and First year success initiatives.
Essential Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities
- Act as liaison to at-risk students, whether self-identified or faculty/staff identified.
- Support daily operations and overall management of the Academic Success Center.
- Represent the department on university committees and/or campus-wide program initiatives.
- Serves as an academic advisor for undecided and non-degree seeking students.
- Create programs of support alongside the rest of the LUASC staff.
- Act as liaison between academic support services, such as tutoring, library services, and distance learning.
- Act as liaison between various student affairs areas such as Counseling, Access and Abilities services, Career Services, and Financial Aid.
- Maintain records of students' academic progress.
- Support the university in a new student advising, registration, and orientation.
- Provide resources and opportunities for students to explore career and degree opportunities.
- Create, disseminate, and collect student surveys aimed at providing feedback on program and student needs.
- Working hours may include evening, holidays, or weekends, depending on deadline requirements and special events.
- Promote positive moral and teamwork within the center and provide exceptional customer service.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree is required, Master's degree in student affairs or higher education administration is preferred.
- Two to three years of experience in higher education is required.
