Assistant Athletic Trainer

PURPOSE


The Assistant Athletic Trainer supervised the care of student-athletes competing at Lincoln University's athletic programs. The Assistant Trainer is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of injuries within the University's comprehensive Sports Medicine Program


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Work under the functional protocols written by directing physician and working with other allied health professionals in the delivery of athletic health care to student-athletes.
  • Recordkeeping and documentation
  • Schedule medical coverage for home and away competitions
  • Set up of essential Sports Medicine equipment for home contests of all sports associated with Lincoln University Athletics Department
  • Oversee departmental inventory and ordering of necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Filing medical claims with athletic insurance policy and working with insurance company and billing sites on behalf of student-athletes when claims are filed when allowed by HIPPA and FERPA regulations.
  • Documentation of all healthcare interventions with student-athletes and/or representatives within state and federal standards for medical professionals
  • Following and implementation NCAA Health and Safety Standards in conjunction with the Departments Athletic Healthcare Administrator.

As assigned by Head Athletic Trainer or Executive Athletic Administration


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree in Athletic Training or similar area-Required
  • 1-2 years related to intercollegiate athletics

  • Familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations-Desirable
  • First Aid/CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification- Required

Certifications, Licenses, registrations

* Graduate from a CAATE accredited Athletic Training Program- Required
* Certification by the National Athletic Trainer's Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)- Required
* Missouri State Athletic Training or similar area-Required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to

must frequently lift and/or move up to 70 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision,
distance vision, color perception, peripheral vision.


The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate. During game conditions, the noise level is
often loud.
