Assistant Athletic Trainer

Position Summary

The Assistant Athletic Trainer supervises the care of student-athletes competing in Lincoln University's athletic programs, and is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of injuries within the University's comprehensive Sports Medicine Program.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Work with doctors and other allied health professionals to deliver care to student-athletes.
  • Recordkeeping and documentation.
  • Schedule medical coverage for home and away competitions.
  • Set up of essential Sports Medicine equipment for home contests of all sports associate with Lincoln University Athletics Department.
  • Oversee departmental budget and ordering of necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Filing medical claims with athletic insurance policy and working with insurance company and billing on behalf of student-athletes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Basic computer skills - Microsoft Office Suite and Sportsware
  • Familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations.

Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field is required.
  • 1-2 years' experience related to intercollegiate athletics is required
  • First Aid/CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification is required.
  • Missouri State Athletic Training Licensure is required.
  • Certification by the National Athletic Trainer's Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) is required.
  • Graduation from a CAATE accredited Athletic Training Program is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and talk or hear including the use of a telephone.
  • Use hands to handle the feel, including the use of a computer keyboard and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and balance.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 70lbs.
  • Vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust for focus.
  • Requires the ability to see, sell, and taste.
  • Noise level in the office environment is usually moderate, during game conditions noise level is often loud.
