Area Educator - Family, Consumer, and Community Services - Caruthersville MO

Position Summary

The Area Educator will teach, plan, design, evaluate, and implement world-class family, consumer, and community science programs.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

• Teaching innovative family, consumer, and community science programs.
• Planning, designing, evaluating, and implementing innovate family, consumer, and community science programs.
• Soliciting and securing extramural funding, including grant proposal writing.
• Engage and collaborate with communities, private entities, social service and commercial organizations, and local, county, state, and federal governments to deliver programs that address psycho-social and economic needs of adults (families and seniors) living in Missouri communities.
• Utilize family and consumer science research-based information, to offer education experiences focusing on making healthy choices, nurturing families, embracing life as one ages, securing financial stability, promoting healthy homes, families and communities, human nutrition and foods, family resource management, human development and family relations, health safety and wellness, leadership development, housing and environment, home-based and micro-businesses and pathways to other careers.
• Responsible for managing the program budget, and budgets of any secured funding.
• May supervise volunteers, students, or program participants.
• May require working weekends and evenings.
• Will require traveling around and outside of the state of Missouri.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Computer and MS Suite proficiency.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand Spanish is preferred.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in consumer science, family science, human development, child and family development or a closely related field is required.
• Minimum of two years of experience working with low-income, ethnically diverse individuals from marginalized communities in informal group settings is required.
• Demonstrated success in securing extramural resources through donations, gifts, and grant funds is preferred.
• Experience conducting educational sessions via distance learning and on virtual platforms is preferred.
• Experience teaching and developing audience contacts with social media is preferred.
