Adjunct Professor of Education

Purpose:

Adjunct Instructor for in-person courses for undergraduate Education courses. Instruction of courses including, but not limited to, Instructional Strategies/Content Literature in elementary subjects (social studies, science, math), assessment and differentiated instruction, and special education courses. Courses ranging from 8 weeks to 16 weeks, with mall classes.

Courses to begin January 13, 2025.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Design and deliver course materials to undergraduate education majors in an engaging and dynamic manner.
  • Responsible for providing a high-quality learning experience.
  • Provide feedback and assessments to students.
  • Maintain records of grades through the LMS (Canvas) and report grades.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

No required office hours, however, still be available to communicate with students and department through email and/or LMS outside of class hours.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics:

  1. Knowledge and skills necessary to prepare students as certified Missouri educators for K-12 public school settings.
  2. Knowledge and experience of public-school teaching, elementary level (1-6) Preferred.
  3. Knowledge of the Missouri Standards for Professional Educators (MoSPE) and the Missouri Teaching Standards (MTS).
  4. Ability to create and deliver content and assignments and provide constructive feedback to students.
  5. Ability to effectively communicate with students with a diverse range of experience.
  6. Experience with the Learning Management System (LMS) Canvas Preferred.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Doctoral (PhD. or Ed.D) in a field of Education Preferred.
  • Master's degree in a field of Education Required.
  • A Missouri Certification for teaching, or the ability to obtain Missouri certification Preferred.
  • At least 3 years teaching in a public-school setting Preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Light physical work.
  • The ability to physically move between classrooms, buildings, and operate classroom technology.
