Academic Coach

Position Summary

The Academic Coach will perform ongoing assessments in order to identify needs and monitor progress or nursing students, and provide targeted support, instruction, and intervention for those in need of remediation.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

• Provide targeted support, instruction, and intervention, as needed.
• Develop ad coordinate retention activities for low performing students.
• Keep abreast of developments, trends, instructional and educational technologies.
• Attend training sessions, team, and school meetings.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of subject material, concepts, and issues related to nursing education.
• Skilled in presenting complex materials and concepts in an understandable and appropriate manner.
• Skilled at leading group discussion and utilizing instruction aides and technologies.
• Ability to use a wide range of instructional practices, approaches, and curriculum materials to support remediation in nursing.
• Ability to write reports, learning objectives, and test questions.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in nursing is required.
• Master's degree is preferred.
• Current/unencumbered Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of Missouri.
• Two years of academic or clinical nursing practice.

Physical Requirements

• Light sedentary office work.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
