AEL Adult Education Instructor

Position Summary

The AEL Adult Education Instructor provides instruction through at least 12th grade level in Reading, Math, and Language to prepare students to pass the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) at the Mid-MO Adult Learning Center.

This position is part-time for ten months. This position works 9 hours weekly (Tuesday and Thursday 4:00 - 8:30 pm.).

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
• Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.
• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports.
• Participate in curriculum review and design.
• Maintain certification as a certified AEL Instructor as defined by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• Certificate from the State of Missouri to teach Adult Education to prepare students to pass the HiSET is required within 4 months of hire.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Teaching experience is preferred.
