Position Summary:

The Soil Health Postdoctoral Researcher position is a full-time, benefit eligible position, and renewed annually based on job performance and funding availability. The main purpose of this position is to coordinate climate-smart projects conducted under the soil health and sustainable soil management program.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

• Fieldwork (50%): design and implement research projects including data collection and reporting.
• Lab work (25%) assist with processing of large volume of samples (plant, soil, air/gas, etc.)
• Train and supervise both graduate and undergraduate students. (20%)
• Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor. (5%)
• Active participation and delivery of technology transfer efforts such as field days and workshops are expected.

• In-state travel for research and outreach programs is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Demonstrated written and oral communications skills.
• Required - Ability to analyze complex research data using advanced statistical modeling approaches.
• Preferred - Ability to publish research data in high quality peer-reviewed scientific journals.
• Desired - Precision agriculture and applied machine learning principles.
• Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain a driver's license.

Education and Experience:

• Required - PhD degree in agronomy or soil science with strong background.
• Preferred - Experience and expertise in climate-smart agriculture related research projects.
• Desired - Experience and background in precision agriculture and applied machine learning principles.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Prolonged periods of working outside in all weather conditions.
