Position Summary:
The Soil Health Postdoctoral Researcher position is a full-time, benefit eligible position, and renewed annually based on job performance and funding availability. The main purpose of this position is to coordinate climate-smart projects conducted under the soil health and sustainable soil management program.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
- Fieldwork (50%): design and implement research projects including data collection and reporting.
- Lab work (25%) assist with processing of large volume of samples (plant, soil, air/gas, etc.)
- Train and supervise both graduate and undergraduate students. (20%)
- Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor. (5%)
- Active participation and delivery of technology transfer efforts such as field days and workshops are expected.

- In-state travel for research and outreach programs is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated written and oral communications skills.
- Required - Ability to analyze complex research data using advanced statistical modeling approaches.
- Preferred - Ability to publish research data in high quality peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Desired - Precision agriculture and applied machine learning principles.
- Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain a driver's license.
Education and Experience:
- Required - PhD degree in agronomy or soil science with strong background.
- Preferred - Experience and expertise in climate-smart agriculture related research projects.
- Desired - Experience and background in precision agriculture and applied machine learning principles.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Prolonged periods of working outside in all weather conditions.
