Position Purpose:
Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled functions in support of the Dispatch Center; receives and dispatches emergency and non-emergency calls from the public for police, fire, and ambulance personnel, equipment, and services; provides direction and performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Performs operator duties with including monitoring cameras and answering calls for reports and assistance on campus.
- Answer non-emergency calls for assistance and enter, update and retrieve information from a variety of computer software systems.
- Perform duties according to standards and guidelines.
- Observes the performance of the Dispatchers.
- Operate a variety of equipment associated with the job, including automated dispatch equipment, computer, radio, and recording equipment, monitors equipment for correct functioning.
- Primary responsibility will be to receive and determine the nature and location of emergencies and to dispatch police, fire, and EMS in accordance with established procedures.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform over the phone first aid or CPR.
- Maintain a professional, courteous, and polite demeanor.
- Be familiar with and how to carry out emergency evacuation procedures.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by Lincoln University Police Department and Staff.
Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma/GED or Equivalent. (required)
- Minimum of three years of supervisory experience (required)
- Basic knowledge of Excel and Word (preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Able to pass state background check (required)
- Strong working knowledge of security operations, safety practices. (preferred)
- Excellent surveillance and observation skills. (preferred)
- Excellent communication skills. (preferred)
- Must be able to obtain CJIS and MULES clearance to access criminal justice data and obtain required certifications if not already held. (required)
